David lynch must surely have seen this film as its influence is all over Twin Peaks - a well-suited, quirky investigator arrives at a rustic locale inhabited by assorted eccentrics looks into the supernatural corruption of a beautiful young girl. He eventually solves the case by nocturnal dreams and surreal visions.

I thought the same thing. As with Twin Peaks, it begins to get interesting and you start to enjoy it. Then something happens that makes absolutely no sense and ruins your enjoyment.
