Music recommendations

I watched this the other night having picked up the Japanese Ozu silent box-set and was most impressed. Does anyone have any recommendations for music to accompany the movie (unfortunately my apartment doesn't come fitted with a live band and Benshi!)?

After a sad perusal of my itunes, I settled on a looping of koto song by tuatara, haha. It's a great song, but maybe a bit smooth-jazzy for a movie with such life! :)

i just finished watching this film and am listening to this song you mentioned. it's an interesting choice to imagine going along with the movie in my mind. i may have to try it for a while next time

My university lecturer, Ed Hughes, showed us a clip of this film for which he had composed music, I think he may have done the score for a DVD release of it. You might be able to find his original music via his own website.

I know this is a very old post, but I have the answer to your question...
Sylvain Chaveau released an album "Umarete Wa Mita Keredo" specifically for this purpose.
