Holy Mother of God!

Everybody should see this movie!!!!
What a way to spend an hour and 30 minutes!

It leaves you absolutely speechless.
Edward G is a hell of an actor.

Edward G. Robinsons' final scene (I won't post any spoilers) was absolutely breathtaking, and well worth seeing.

I concur. It is my absolute favotite Robinson movie (and he's my favorite actor). I love the way the film goes from a lighthearted beginning to a gripping finale and everywhere in-between, and he's flawless throughout.

"Two Seconds" is a most definite WOW!

Just saw it too.....outstanding! What a performance! But I don’t know who the young man at the very end was, in the execution witness section. Is he a younger E.G. Robinson?

reply

I was also blown away by Robinson's performance, especially that final scene in the courtroom. I had TiVo'd it, so I watched the whole scene again twice looking for edits, but I couldn't find a one. Robinson did that whole scene in one unbroken take. What a great actor!! Director Mervyn Leroy just turned him loose and kept the camera rolling.

Noirgirl, that college kid sociology student was William Janney. He wasn't much of an actor, judging from his short scene. He never had much of a career, because his last film credit here on IMDb was in 1939.

Thanks, Fillio! Why was the character there, and why so horrified? Was he involved in EG’s life or the murder?

reply

The writer wanted a young, naive, and idealistic character in the group of witnesses. He was there to provide a contrast to the experienced and jaded reporters there to cover the execution.

In many ways, the young student represented "we the people", the general public, who would be as naively curious as he was before they threw the switch, and be as shocked and stunned as he was afterward. He was us.

Thanks, Fillio! That cleared it up for me. What a movie!
