it SHOULD be in the top 100.. if there's a tie at the bottom, we can't see their real weighted score, but this is very close.. it may also need more votes to get past their first filter

Because the rating system is flawed. Fans of new films give top250 films (which they haven't watched) low rates to push them out of the top250 so their favorites can get in.

Also, these old films aren't shown in movie theaters anymore (which is a shame). But it means there are far less viewers; you have to be lucky to find a DVD in your local library. And the top250 doesn't rely on ratings alone, but also on the number of votes. All in all it means that classics like TiP can only move down the list.

IMO IMDB should rethink it's rating system.

there aren't many comedies in the top 250, and few very old films. since trouble in paradise is both a comedy and very old, it doesn't surprise me that it's not in the top 250. it's a wonderful film, but it's not top 250 material.
