Plus, the half-breed gets the honor of being the evil hand-wringing villain. She'd be twirling her mustache and tying the women to railroad tracks if her character was a man. I'm glad she moved on to better roles in much better films.
Worst Myrna Loy film I've seen so far, though I've seen few of her early films where she played the exotic. I hope they are all better than this one. First chance I had to catch one of her early films on TCM or I'd have shut it off maybe 20 minutes in. Love Myrna Loy, hate the film (to be seen by Loy completionists only).

Isn't it stated that she is seeking revenge because of the horrible treatment she has had at the hands of various whites? If it were so racist, wouldn't the whites be painted in a much better light? If anything, the film shows that she has only turned being "evil" because she was not accepted by whites. Isn't this the OPPOSITE of racism?
She's only a "half-breed" because the writers needed her to be "ethnic" enough to serve the hypnosis plot, not to make some grand statement that half-breeds and hindus are evil.

I'm not sure how much of this statement I agree with, but I do agree that the film wasn't as racist as its made out to be.
