Female Mabuse Haters

I saw that females 45+ hated this movie, and I was wondering why? Any 45+ female haters have any insight?

reply

Where did you see it? Is there some sort of stats somewehre?

Anyway, i think I know why females over 45 may not like this. The film is focusing on strong male figures not females. The females that are present in the film are two types only. One is crazy about the man and loves him despite his faults, the other female is a floozy. A third female appearing in here is a cleaning woman who is angry.

If a female over 45 is some kind of feminist I see why she will dislike this. There are no complaining woman in this movie but submissive ones instead.

I'm a female who likes this film, but I have another idea. Where are the stats on this? How many >45 females voted on it? If it's like 5 then that really doesn't speak to the demographic. As a feminist I really don't see how a feminist critique of females in this film would yield enough to make anyone angry, and if nothing else most feminists would probably just analyze this in terms of sex-determined roles in German film during this time.

Feminism. People keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Check out the voting statistics on the top of the page. There are a highly skewed distribution of votes from the 45+ females. Out of about 240 votes almost 200 of them are 1, harsh.

As a masculinist, I love this film.

Wow you're giving a lot of credit to "most feminists". People who find the need to identify so strongly with a label tend to be less nuanced thinkers than you're giving credit.

I don't think she's wrong.

I find that people who back away nervously from that particular label say just as much about themselves.

INCONCIEVABLE! lol... well played feminist. Well played.

I'm one of the +45 that liked the picture ... perhaps this type of movie wasn't appealing to some ... but if that is the case I wonder why they would watch it in the first place ... just wondering ...

I suspect voting shenanigans from a single person, but I can't imagine why any user would be so eager to drive down the ratings for this movie. I wrote about the issue here: imdb.com/board/bd0000042/nest/164364008

Definitely. Almost half of the female 45+ votes are a 1. Thats more than a little fishy.

I'm a female 45+ (by about 10 years) and I love this movie.

I guess it wasn't enough like Mamma Mia! (which I refused to see after watching a truly nauseating clip of it). That got a 7.7 from females 45+, which is way higher than the pitiful 2.8 they gave this movie.

I don't know. I don't seem to track with my demographic.

Well you do seem hip with that Throw Mama from the Train sig.

There have been a surge of 45+ ranking movies down all over IMDb. Other movies that I've liked had the same problem. I'm guessing they're paid to rank them down?

I'm 45+ and I didn't hate this movie. It drew me in very quickly and held my attention the whole time. Yes, it was mostly men but what's wrong with that? I didn't even notice that it until someone on this board pointed it out. The characters were career men and back in those days men had careers and women mostly took care of home and children. I had no problem with how the female characters were portrayed. The stand-by-your-mate girlfriend was dangerously dumb but there are people like that. (he killed his last girlfriend but that's OK honey) The floozy seemed like a kick-ass kind of woman as did the housekeeper. I didn't care for the ending all that much but wouldn't trash the whole movie because of it. If this movie's votes have been spammed then that's a shame, those people really need to get a life.
