'Mabuse' showing Uncut!!!

IFC (Independent Film Channel) is showing "Testament of Dr. Mabuse" very early on the morning of 4/6/08 !!!! If you haven't seen it yet, it's the restored version and looks great!

Just happened to catch it, what a great Sunday morning treat. It has its flaws but I love its atmosphere, energy and confidence.

And it was made in 1932!! Way ahead of its time! Hope IFC or TCM shows it again! The Criterion edition has commentary by David Kalat, who produced the restorations of two of the 1960's Mabuse films!

I've seen this movie a couple of times on cable in the last couple of years. It's just different enough and, as you say, ahead of its time (not dated) that I think the powers-that-be realize there's an audience out there for it.

I saw The 1000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse as a kid many years ago. I never forgot it and when I saw this title, I knew I just had to see this one, too.

Allday Entertainment released "1000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse" on DVD (still on Ebay) and the 1962 "Testament of Dr. Mabuse" as well---and while it's not the equal of the Lang film, it's perhaps the best of the 1960's Mabuse films, and a lot of fun!

There is a video on line of the movie ... it was 154 minutes ... I don't know if it's the uncut version or not ... but if you google the title you will find the site that has it ... you just have to download their player and you can watch the film ... however there are no subtitles ... you have to do another search to find it, but it's out there ... I watch the film yesterday ... I didn't think it was as good as "M" ... but interesting that's for sure ...
