Did Al Capone ever see this? *Spoiler*
I wonder if Capone saw this and what he thought of it. Especially since his cinematic counterpart gets killed.
Yippee: "For king!"
Yappee: "For country!"
Yahooie: "And, most of all, for 10ยข an hour!"

Apparently Capone loved the film and even had his own print of it he used to show for his pals.
shareI don't think he could have done that because by the time this film was realeased Al Capone had already been convicted of federal income tax evasion and was in a Federal Penitentiary.
Not quite. The movie was released in April; Capone went to jail in May.
In any case, he clearly knew of the film and he was paroled in 1939. So he certainly may have owned a print of the film after he was released, if not before.
By the time he was paroled he was already losing his mind from Syphilis, so doubtful.

I heard Capone loved the movie. And it's easy to see why. Not only is it a great movie, but Tony, who is based on him, is likable in the movie. He's not supposed to be, according to the censors at the time, but he is. I thought Tony Camonte had like a boyish charm.
shareBoyish Charm. Yeah, I especially liked the way he smiled when he was pumping somebody full of lead.
