This is a great little film. I found it in a closet years after I'd recorded it on VHS. It has Osborne advertising the upcoming debut of TCM.
Sure, Harlow has most of the good lines, the rest are Gable's. But I love it for the torrid scene with Gable and Mary Astor. She is just gorgeous, and hot, in that scene. Even in the following scene with her and Harlow, there's no comparison. I wish she'd have adopted that wet look more often.
Mary looked swell and really aged by the time of the Maltese Falcon where she appears quite hard.
Here she is quite feminine and perhaps even fetching in the best sense.
Nine yrs.certainly makes a difference !
She really aged badly, due to alcoholism. In her last film, Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte, she was 58 and looked 70. Absolutely fantastic actress though.
