Question on DVD transfer/Sept. '07 Stanford Theatre screening of TODH

Hello,

Did anyone else manage to catch this film when it was shown at the Stanford Theatre in September?

From what I can recall, the print was pretty decent, and I'm wondering if the print I saw there was the exact same one used to make the Kino DVD (the only DVD available of this film).

Speaking of which: can anyone who own that DVD comment on the transfer quality? I'm leery of picking up the DVD if the transfer is of poor quality.

Your comments?

I am watching it (The Kino Print) right now & it looks perfect. I watched this on TCM a few months ago & this print looks at least as good.

I have only seen a few "snow flakes" & the sound is very good with only a minor hiss (and a few crackles ) & the voices are all clearly audible.

Basically it looks as perfect as it could be, considering it is 75 years old.

Thanks for the reply.

One other thing I wanted to ask: I've been told there's a booklet enclosed with the DVD. Does the booklet have anything particularly worthwhile in it (production stills, etc.)?

The reason I ask is that I've got a shot at getting the DVD only (no packaging) and am wondering if it's worth the extra few dollars to get a shiny new copy with the booklet enclosed.

Hi there,

My Kino US DVD doesn't state it includes a booklet and the only printed element included was a Kino DVD catalogue.
