Is 'I Live My Life' (1935) a remake of sorts?

Is "I Live My Life" (1935) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0026417/ a remake of sorts? I checked the source material: different novels/novelists. The stories are so similar though - ultra rich family; father needing money for failing business that daughter can get if she marries the right man. Strong (almost tyrannical) grandparent influence.

Very perceptive of you; interesting idea, but I respectfully doubt it.

For one thing, Hollywood has long repeated successful stories (Grand Hotel was revisited, roughly, in Manhattan Tower and From Hell to Heaven; the basics of It Happened One Night [heiress on the run] were repeated, tho titles of the copies elude me; the basics of Three Broadway Girls were repeated in Three Wise Girls and How to Marry a Millionaire); for another, there are really only so many stories to be told, and rich families in changed circumstances was a big theme during the 1930s.
