The Mummy Reboot coming....

Why present day? It should have been set in the same time period as the original, giving us an old-fashioned horror-adventure.

reply

The time period in the orignal film was only that time period because that was the date it was made. Nothing wrong with setting it in present day, that makes it more current anyway. The Sherlock BBC TV series is set in present time and it worked great.

Besides, setting it in certain time doesn't garauntee an "old fashioned horror adventure". It be set back even farther and still feel like a moderen style flick. It's all about how the director handles it and how it's written.

I liked how Sommer's Mummy remakes kept the 1920s/30s setting of the original

I hear Tom Cruise is going to star in it which makes me lose interest. That makes me think it's going to be too big budget and "Hollywood" and more about him than the story and characters. That's why I'm weary of watching any movie with big name stars.

Ditto! No way am I watching Cruise in The Mummy
