Fight scene (spoiler)

The hand to hand fight scene between the hero and the bad guys in the castle at the film's climax was way funny, especially the behind the back body hold Joel McCrea slapped on the one guy. Choreography was unknown outside of dance, when it came to fight scenes they just had at it back in those days!

Wasn't it great? I also watched this morning and I was glad to see the 1932 version after seeing this storyline on many TV shows such as The Incredible Hulk (they did it well, too, Bill Bixby running from Bradford Dillman!) and in many other movies. I liked everything about this one, the sets, the acting, the chase, glad I caught it.

I was thinking that same thing. I have been a willing and unwilling participant in my share of fights in bars and such as well as witnessing them. this fight was much more like the way a real fight goes down. wild swinging, throwing and then sooner than later to the floor. it's ugly but much more realistic. I can understand why fights in films are choreographed, and yes I would rather see them that way. I wouldn't want to see Neo or Jet-li writhing around on the floor with their adversaries, lol.
