This movie plays like a really cheap 30's serial, or more accurately a high school play. With stagey production, stilted dialogue and thunder sound-effects courtesy of a hammer and aluminum wash bucket. But it was the early 30's by a independant outfit, but not nearly as good as White Zombie. Not much atmosphere. This movie mostly rips off the silent dark old house mystery 'The Cat and the Canary', with the novelty of chimpanzee as hero. Hey, if you are really bored and have an hour to kill, it's kind of worth it.
