Deer in the bed?

I saw this film in 1995 in a film class, and watched it again on DVD just a few years ago.
When Maurice goes hunting, there is a part where he comes out of a cabin, telling the hunters to call off the hunt because the deer is tired and in bed asleep.
I swear that, in that scene, there was a cutaway shot showing the deer in bed sleeping.
But the Kino DVD version doesn't show the deer in bed!
Was it all my imagination?
