Beauty and the Beast

The opening of this movie is so much like Beauty and the Beast by Disney. Great film btw!!!

I confess the opening reminded me of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast". And "An American in Paris"...

I just saw this movie for the first time tonight. The beginning reminded me of the opening to "Seventh Heaven", a 1937 movie based in Paris which also began with city scenes at the beginning of the movie.

What it reminds me of is Mr. Hulot's Holiday. Same sense of a neighborhood waking up. It's not the opening scene, but the morning scene is very similar, right down to the woman providing the music to compliment the increasingly complex "organic" percussion by playing a record on a gramophone.

Wow -- just picturing the scene brings the melody back. It's a cool scene. If you haven't checked out that movie, run out and find it pronto, because if you like the beautifully-stylized Love Me Tonight, you'll like Hulot, too, more than likely.

Actually, I thought of Once Upon a Time in the West - sound effects as scoring.

Just rearranging the furniture in order to give you the full effect of the anesthetic.
