Extreme politically incorrect comment in script ?

I sae this movie many moons ago, and I could swear that at one point I heard the phrase "You can't do that to a white woman!!"
I do have a friend that also heard it at the time.
Any other confirmations ?

would love to see it again, just to have my jaw drop...

Thx
Rich

Yeah, wasn't it great before political correctness screwed up the world? !

Hell yes!

I've seen this movie a couple of times, and I even wrote a review about it. I don't actually remember hearing the phrase, but it does sound familiar. But remember that this movie was made in 1932. A comment like that wouldn't have been that remarkable. In fact, I've heard similar comments in any number of old movies. Things like: "I haven't seen a white woman in three years". Times have changed and we can't expect to impose our values on the writers of that era. Try to put it in context.

That line was heard during one of the scenes where Huston is abusing the female lead. It does sort of imply that it would be OK to do it to one of the native women of color, and that Huston was so evil and cruel that he would do this to a white woman who did not deserve it.

Holy *beep* must live in an exciting world....Call me anytime if you want jaw dropped, friends are welcome for confirmation.

Seeing as how the natives were frequently immolating their own women, they really did need to spell out what you can and can't do to the white ones.

They're trading slaves, poaching ivory, kidnapping, burning alive, enabling addiction. And you're aghast over a casually racist comment during the Jim Crow era? Eep!

a casually racist comment

That comment wasn't even remotely racist.

Never argue with a Cultural Marxist. They never make sense and they never give up their racism.

Very common reference seen in so many films of that era from King Kong to westerns (even the Duke said it in the Searchers) to any adventure movie. Couldn't say it today but things were different back then. Watch DeMilles Four Freightened People where the great Leo Carillo is "the most white man" of his tribe in a similar culture because he spoke English and had a British tie. If you watch old movies you hear it more often than not.

Dude, your jaw is too-easily dropped.

I just saw the film again today and the most politically incorrect comment in the script was when Walter Huston prayed. I sprung to turn off the set. I was almost in tears when I turned to my friends, but they said they actually enjoyed hearing that.

You have serious issues.
