Did you ever find a copy of the movie If I Had A Million?

reply

STILL looking for a copy of this film!!!

Especially the W. C. Fields sequence with "The Great Road Hog Hunt"!!!

reply

Keep an eye on WGN (cable TV) from Chicago ... especially around Christmastime. They seem to show a lot of old B/W films.

reply

I taped it from Showtime years ago. Love this film!!

Try searching on emule where it is being actively shared by classic film fans.

IF I HAD A MILLION (Paramount, 1932) is available on video cassette for purchase. I didn't know that until recently. Log on to Movies Unlimited, and type in title you want. According to the sourse, it's on VHS and packaged in a clam shell. Copy of the movie should be good because this company hardly ever sells its product of inferior quality. It may be a little overpriced but worth the buy. IF I HAD A MILLION formerly played on WGN cable channel back in the 1980s, and don't expect any rebroadcasts of it in this day and age. Turner Classic Movies showed it several times during the year of 2001 as part of its tribute to WC Fields, star of the month of May. Good luck.

I've been looking for a copy for years. If you can have your copy put on a CD, I'll pay for it and, of course, the postage. Or even a copy of the video tape will do. Let me know and we'll work something out.

Movies Unlimited carries "If I Had a Million" in both formats

The DVD from Movies Unlimited is quite nice. Not the sharpest picture (probably from a nice 16mm) but the sound is crystal clear and the best we will probably ever have for this film, unless a 35mm nitrate print is restored and put on video. Totally bare bones disc-no subtitles or trailer.

Hope you guys caught this on TCM Sunday[Jan.3,2010]... GREAT movie, Especially Ms. Robson's performance! Bet Mr. Capra cast her in,"Lady for a Day"-1933, on the STRENGTH of her perf. in this movie!

reply

I just got my DVD from Movies Unlimited. First thing I did was watch the Road Hog sequence. Just as funny as the last time I saw it about 20 years ago.

It is now officially available in Europe on two region 2 editions:
- the British W.C. Fields Collection, which features 10 discs. Published by Universal.
- in France in a separate edition, with forced French subtitles. Published by BAC Vidéo as "Si j'avais un million"

Both are PAL, which means the movies plays a little faster.

It will be avaliable next month on DVD in Brazil. [email protected]

As this title is not currently commercially available, I had some difficulty in tracking down a copy ... but found one through www.vintageclassicmovies.com ... the site is worth exploring for rare old films.

reply

It is available in France comercially.

reply

Apparently TCM is now selling it, which means it'll turn up on Netflix shortly.

reply

I've ordered it from my library and will report back on the quality.
