The diner owner as a witness?

He could have said in court Allen was forced at gunpoint to make the robbery. Guess he wasn't at the hearing

I figured he could have been the petty type, offended by the fact that he'd been robbed even though Allen was coerced. After all, Allen did flee with the cash if I remember correctly.

Even though it was precode, they didn't want to show a murder unnecessarily. But the point of the story is: if you get involved with somebody you don't know, a low character, you could end up in that situation. The diner owner could be dead and not able to testify. Or it's also possible that the diner owner could've interpreted the whole thing as a stunt to make Paul look less culpable in case they get caught. The deal between criminals: You get the money and look less guilty, I don't touch the money and look more guilty.
