Please explain the "two pair of pants" joke to me

- Last week for $18 I got a co-ed with two pair of pants.
Groucho:
- Since when has a co-ed got two pair of pants?
Chico :
- Since I joined the college.

Keep in mind that English is not my language, so I might have missed something very obvious.
