what's up with the part

where they are in the room with thelma todd and the film keeps skipping and jumping. it's like somone cut out five diffenrt parts of the film right there and just spilcied it back any old way. it looks pretty wierd.

They did - it was either to do with the Hays Code or the film was just too long or a combination of both. Like in Animal Crackers where they cut out "I think I'll try to make her" in Hooray For Captain Spaulding, and it's obvious something's been cut.

I've always wanted to know if an uncut version survives somewhere on this planet, but it seems like the cut stuff is pretty much lost forever. One line I do know that was cut was after Groucho says "that ice man stuff leaves me cold", he originally followed it with "and if I leave you cold, I'm not the man I used to be."

Well, this is an old thread but....

I have read what is basically missing is Thelma saying to Chico, Oh, Signor Baravelli, you overcome me..."

To which Chico replies, "All right, but remember it was your idea..."

Then he starts jumping on her.

Very tame today, and a shame it's all chopped up in the film. Yes, there are other jumps during that scene as well. I read years ago of a fan in the UK seeing a 16mm print in which the entire scene was intact. If true, I only wish Universal sought it out to restore this classic film....
