What is Pinky looking at?

Towards the end, when Harpo and Chico go to kidnap the two ringers, and they are chased into an apartment, where the first thing Harpo does is pull out a poster of a woman and hangs it up. He flips up something on the bottom of the poster and looks underneath it. He does this same thing when they drop down into the next apartment. What is he looking at? Thanks.

That's always stumped me, too! I just chalked it up to Harpo being Harpo and never thought about it any more. I kinda figured he might've been looking for something else dirty under there, but I don't know for sure!

That piece of paper looks like a calendar, you can see something similar in W.C. Fields' The Bank Dick, and yes I suppose Harpo was checking if any other female body parts were hidden under it. Not that the woman in the picture looked so spectacular that interesting body parts might be discovered under her feet...

One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas I'll never know.

That's what I was thinking, too. Mighty small calendar for such a mighty big pinup, but I guess that's the point, huh!

Yeah, it's a good excuse really, it's not a pin-up, it's a calendar... "Hey, I'm just going to hang this calendar here..."
