The original Chain-gang flick..fantastic photography!

What a neat little gem of a movie. Was really surprised how complex and beautiful the photography is in this forgotten film. Some of the shots are absolutely amazing, and keep this movie very watchable. Some of the images are powerful and may shock.. probably due that this film is pre Hays Code. Check it out. Was just on TCM.

I agree, the cinematography is fantastic. Maybe what's most interesting is the hand drawn section of the funeral near the middle of the movie. Kinda neat. I think this movie is more powerful and brutal than the more remembered "I am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang" released the same year.
