Someone found the recipe for the Louisiana Flip and posted on the board previously. Look for the earlier post.

Louisiana Flip

Fill a shaker half full with ice cubes and add:

7/10 White Rum
1/10 Triple Sec
1/10 Grenadine Syrup
1/10 Orange Juice
1 egg yoke

Shake for several minutes and serve in high champagne glasses.

Bottoms up, mon ami!

An egg yoke? Gag! Perhaps that's what led to his illness! HAHAHA!

Mm, I think it sounds delicious! Egg yolk is great in drinks, as in my favourite - Golden Fizz. I'll sure try this one out!

I couldn't find the earlier post mentioned, but I did find an somewhat alternate recipe for the cocktail:

I'm reading the original Vicki Baum novel and wondered the same thing when the Doctor ordered a Louisiana Flip.

The previous rum recipe is the wimpy US version. The real Euro version they were drinking is:

Louisiana Flip:

* 1/2 oz Absinthe
* 1/2 oz Cointreau
* 2 tsp Lemon juice
* 1 Egg
* 1 tsp Sugar
* Nutmeg

Now you see why Kringelein was flying SO high. It doesn't sound too bad actually.
