^ just wanna know, cause he's one of my favorite actors. cause i hear how good john and lionel are but I never here how good beery is?

Beery does an outstanding job in this movie playing a despicable character.

You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be lead.

I thought Berry was great here, he usually played a lovable rouge but definetly is not one here! Not sure if it's the movie system or that he had the guts to do it, but I think it adds greatly to his body of work!

You were supposed to hate him. He was great. A very good villain. I hated him too. He was scary bad.

By all accounts Mr. Beery was a NASTY S.O.B. (not that I care) he gave a rough, realistic coarseness to films such as Grand Hotel where his outsize presence was indispensable. One of his best.
