Repulsive

I haven't seen it but just looking at the pictures you realize just how repulsive it is.

reply

How so? The so-called "freaks" are portrayed as very likable. It's actually the so-called "normal" people in this movie you end up being disgusted with

reply

I guess it's logical that the original post on this thread would be written by someone who has an elitist historical quote as their username. I hope he/she watches this film sometime, and tries to realize what it would be like to walk a mile in the shoes of these people. (The ones that have shoes, that is.)

reply

well my use of that quote is ironic, and I'm sorry but the film looks repulsive, apparently it's a bad film too.

reply

The ironic part is your trusting your own opinion of a universally respected film that you haven't seen.

reply

universally respected?? where though

reply

"Universally respected" means it is respected everywhere. For starters: the American Film Institute, the National Film Registry, Siskel and Ebert, Leonard Maltin, Entertainment Weekly, Pauline Kael, every Turner Classic Movies host, etc.

reply

well it's too disgusting.

reply

I'm sorry you feel that way. Maybe you'll be more comfortable with the upcoming film called "Trolls."

LOL! That's what I'm thinking too.

reply

You haven't even seen the film, so how do you know it's "disgusting"? Honestly, if you haven't seen a film, there's no point in even having an opinion about it

reply

"Apparently it's a bad film too"
Says who? This film is confident a masterpiece by many. As for it being repulsive, you mean to say the "freaks" in the film are repulsive? I've seen the movie at least a dozen times and nothing about it repulses me. Sounds like a personal issue on your part.

reply

The bravery of some of the cast members was unreal. I found them to be very likeable and now wonder how they led their lives in every day life.

reply

I think it's a beautiful movie. One of my personal favorites. It really gets the message across to not judge by appearance alone. It teaches you that despite our differences we are all human and want the same things, to be loved and accepted as we are. Nothing repulsive about it. The only repulsive thing in the movie is the way some characters were treated as subhuman outcasts just because they happened not to look the same as others.

reply

The movie was great and ahead of its time.

reply

That was the point of adding the "Freaks" set into the revival of the musical "Side Show", making it more profound because it explained the unexplained and reminded us of who the real monsters are: those that judge by looks and the physical, rather than what's inside the soul.
