Not very good

I understand the importance of the film and its historic value, but cinematically speaking it is not a very good film.

Too much exploitation and coarse emphasis on the deformity, extremely simplistic and childish view on morality and humanity, a script with many flaws in favor of the action (for example, it was funny how she tried to poison him immediately after the wedding, and again immediately after the first failed attempt, while all the others were supposedly ignorant). The ending, too much, just to shock and preach.

This is not nit-picking. There are some masterpieces from that era, even by todays standards. I have to say though it was a quite enjoyable film.

I saw this movie 15 years ago when i was in my late teens, to this day it is the only movie to give me nightmares. Its a very weird picture, the story is nonsensical and the ending is horrific.

Yeah, I didn't like this all that much. For an hour-long movie, it kind of dragged and felt like nothing really happened. It didn't start to get interesting until the last couple of minutes. The "shocking" reveal at the end was more funny than scary.

I don't understand why this is considered a horror classic.

For me, this movie is simply too fascinating for me to give it anything less than a perfect rating.

Great movie but the ending was pretty scary!

I finally saw it thanks to the new Criterion blu ray. I've wanted to see it for about 40 years, first time I heard of it was a Ramones interview where they were explaining the origin of "Gabba gabba we accept you."

It's good to finally see it after all this time, but I wouldn't say it was worth the wait.
