Film Buzz - Remake?

While this film is available on DVD, and in color, as many older films aren't, I'm trying to figure out why there is increased interest in it (based on IMDB's movie meter index). Has there been a recent screening at a popular festival/ has it been released on another DVD collection... ?
I noticed interest is also up in similarly titled films. Is it possible there are rumours of a remake ?

Don't even mention the word "re-make"...I shiver at the thought.

I haven't heard of any remakes...maybe getting closer to Halloween may be why people are talking about it. So many of the films from this decade are the best horror ever made, & like this movie, I shudder even thinking of it being remade. Lionel Atwill & Bela Lugosi (not in this) were two of the best in horror...their works should be left alone & not even considered to be redone.

But thena gain, since Hollywood doesn't have much talent nowadays, nothing would surprise me.

Seeing that this original post is a year and a half old, I guess the following wouldn't count as increased interest in 2007 but a new DVD box set just released in early 2009 featured portions of this film. The DVD set is a collection of 1 hour "episodes" about serial killers in the past 150 or so years. I have only watched one episode but Dr. X was "cited" several times within. It definitely made me want to find this film and see the whole thing. can't comment on a remake though I think any remake is a bad idea.
