Blue Tint?

Somebody knowledgable please enlighten me. I have seen a black-and-white version of this film without any blue-tinted scenes whatsoever. Is it supposed to have the latter or not? In the (Horrible Life) documentary about Leni, film clips from DAS BLAUE LICHT are used showing vibrant blue hues. I'm puzzled.

Well she talks about filtering everything through red and blue and orange for different effects. This could probably have been stripped out for viewing at certain times/places where the equipment couldn't keep up with even the filter color done. Or it could've been added in after the fact. There was also a re-edit done in the 50's in Italy, it might've been colored up or filtered through something to create some scenes with color.

Yes, after seeing the clips in 'Wonderful/Horrible..' and being captivated by the blue tinting, I was very disappointed when I bought a R1 import (I live in the UK)
and found it purely in B&W. It's still good, but it would be even better with the tints...

I completely agree, rayincumbria. Would LOVE to see this film with original tinting. Let's hope an original negative with preserved tinting is found and released on Blu Ray!
