Did anyone think . . .

while watching this movie that the police detective (Lionel Barrymore) could have been the thief?

Nobody gets to be a cowboy forever.

Yes! I did, at the point when Lionel said to John that he was the only living person other than the owner who knew about the electrically charged safe. I thought to myself, "Well you know too Lionel!"

Just be truthful and if you can fake that you've got it made. ;)

reply

Yikes, iwals -- don't you think you maybe oughta note this as a spoiler? Because I foolishly clicked on your post, I now know that he's not Lupin.

In other words, yeah, I did think so -- until I tripped over this spoiler!

Oh, well. It's still fun to see the brothers scowling, growling, and grimacing at one another, anyway.

Back to the movie.... (Love DVR service.)

Yes the limp, always being at crime scene and never really pinpointing Lupin but being inconspicuous with the investigation. Yes it did occur to me that Guercherd would be Arsene Lupin.

DirecTv ruins it in their "Info" about the movie. In their synopsis, they have (Thief) after 'His' name. Guess they figured that as old as this movie is, everyone already knows who the thief is.

Yes... when his shoe matched the cast of the footprint.
