Odd Bit of Editing...

Did anyone else notice the strange editing in the scene after Sophie gets hit by Alf? She is sitting in a chair, crying, and tells Margie that she wants to end it. Margie tries to make it better, and tell her it's not so bad, and then Sophie tells her she's pregnant. THEN...the scene is cut, and the film doesn't even seem to match the rest of the movie. The new cut is...I don't know how to describe it, rough looking, like it was an out take that somehow was lost, then found, and edited back in. When the scene change cuts in, Sophie's hair is all in disaray, she's ranting & raving, and then when it cuts back, she's calmly seated in a chair, her voice modulated, and her hair smoothed down.

I even played it back to make sure! Anyone else notice? I wonder what the deal was??

Maybe it was cut because of the whole abortion ephanism...??

I don't know! Could be, but I just know in the first part of the scene Sophie looks one way, and after the edit, she looks disheveled.

Interesting...

I did notice something but you said it best. I was so engrossed in the film that I shrugged it off.

Perhaps it's the cut you saw. I didn't see that. I have it DVR'd and looked. It was consistent.

Sometimes there are different prints out of the same film. Like I know there are two prints of "My Man Godfrey (1936)". I have them both on DVD. The American version is shorter than the Canadian version I have by 2 scenes (about 3-5 minutes between the two).

Could be just more than one version floating out there.
