I admit Clark Gable starring got me to watch this, but the true star was Tommy Boy. How refreshing to have the story of a horse be the plot of a movie. (And this was no kid's movie either.)

I was also apprehensive that a 1931 film might be offensive racially, but that didn't happen either. This was a well-acted and directed film.

Catch it on TCM in the US if you can.

i liked it too.it was different to see so many black actors in a movie of this time period. very enjoyable.

I'd like to know more about Tommy Boy. What a character and the true star of the movie.
