Remade opening titles

Has anyone any idea as to why every copy of this film I've seen for more than 40 years has remade opening titles? Every time I've seen it aired on television anywhere in this country as well as 35mm prints shown at revivals and even my own newly acquired 16mm print all have the same remade titles. The Warner Bros./Vitaphone end titles remain intact but not the openers. I know this isn't a life changing issue but if anyone knows for sure would you please enlighten me?
