Didn't think it was so bad

For a film that's nearly 80 years old. I caught it on TCM but missed everything up to where her boyfriend gets in trouble and she has to go to jail.

Actors should study Hayes's performance when it comes to portraying the aging process. Hers was very convincing.

I loved this movie and think it's one of the best of the '30s. It's one of the best of the "suffering, sacrificial mother" films. My rating: 9/10

About a month ago I purchased a double feature on dvd from Dolores Del Rio and Pedro Armendariz, and to my surprise and joy, one of the movies "Las Abandonadas" (1945)( Abandoned Women) is a remake of "The Sin Of Madelon Claudet"
The film is excellent! Ms. Del Rio is gorgeous and delivers an outstanding performance. One complain though, it makes me wonder why it was released by Lionsgate without English subtitles. I have no problems following the dialogue but, non Spanish speaking lovers of classic films might miss out on this great movie. It is a nice addition to my film library next to the version by Ms. Helen Hays. Anyone familiar with the original should give it a look, since the plot is almost the same.
