Do Victor + Sibyl wind up a couple beyond movie's end?

I realize that the movie does not wind up on a civil note for Victor and Sibyl. Still, I'm always left feeling, when watching it, that they ultimately wind up a couple, and married, after story's end. What do others think?

I was thinking the same thing. I'd like to think they ended up happily married to each other.

Oh no, I don't see that happening at all; they are too much alike. What's more, they seem to bicker even more than Elyot and Amanda.

I was wondering the same thing. Do you think they wind up even more in love than Eliot & Amanda because their bickering is even worse?

Elyot and Amanda have a lot of history together. They have been both together, married for two years, and apart, divorced for one. They have music in common and know so much about each other they can evoke emotions in each other very easily.

I wouldn't put Sybil and Victor on par with Amanda and Elyot and I doubt they'll ever surpass them. From what they said, Amanda and Elyot's relationship started on a positive note before they started their love-'hate' cycles. Sybil and Victor, if they wind up together, would have started their relationship on the wrong foot; negatively and under very undesirable and unhappy circumstances.

Both Sybil and Victor started off with insecurities about their spouses' ex. They were always looking for reassurance about where they stood in relation to the ex; sometimes they got it and sometimes they didn't so they fought over it. Then, on their wedding night before even consummating their marriage, their spouses dump them to run off with the very person that had caused them much concern.

Sybil and Victor met as a result of that betrayal. They then end up spending time together in ways they hadn't planned; traveling to a place they hadn't wanted to go; and living several days of their lives with their entire future in limbo. Those aren't exactly the things people look back fondly on when remembering how they met. Their memories would tend to bring painful rather than joyous memories.

I do think there's a suggestion in the movie that Sybil and Victor will end up together but I doubt it. Elyot and Amanda have learned how to fight. They know how to push each other's buttons but, even though they don't always honor their safety word, they also know how to keep from going too far.

Sybil and Victor have the fighting down but it's not balanced with love, sincere affection, or desire for each other. The bickering is unlikely to develop into closeness or anything meaningful because their fights are mostly about their exes; either their defending them or despising one another for having fallen so easily for their respective ex's excuses for bad behavior.

There's also a very physical and non-verbal component to Elyot and Amanda's relationship that Sybil and Victor lack. They can carry on a full conversation without saying a single word. They do the same with touching; which they're always doing. During a fight they grab, hit, and shove each other around; when they're getting along they exchange loving little kisses, caress each other, and cuddle.

It's not hard to imagine how well all that translates into the bedroom and, as Elyot so eloquently put it, they were married in the eyes of heaven so they're really still married. We all know what that means; they don't intend to let their marriage to other people get in the way of anything.

Given the time in which the movie was made, it is highly unlikely that Sybil and Victor would enter into a physical relationship. Even if they had that desire they'd likely wait until both their divorces were finalized so they could marry.
