I realise that in these filme reality is sometimes thrown out the window but, I have a question, in the beginning Stan and Ollie are camped by a flowing stream and Stan goes for water to put out the tent fire, he uses the nearby water pump to fill the cup; my question is...why would someone put a pump next to a stream? Need I say they Laurel and Hardy are my fav. comedy team no matter what?

That would be typical Laurel and Hardy logic. For example, if they attempt to enter a room through a glass door which has been shattered, they will still open the door first before entering. See "Helpmates."
