Myrna Is Hot!
Myrna Loy is hot! This is well before her goody-two-shoes "The Perfect Wife" image that the studios encouraged subsequent to her later movies(i.e. The Thin Man series, etc) - a description she reportedly disliked very much.
shareI think ALL the ladies in this movie were 'hot'. Alice White is adorable, as is Myrna, and they wear such scanty, elegant chiffon gowns. All as thin as can be, very pretty! (who wouldn't want to be part of that filthy rich, fun loving crowd? Not a tired waitress or laboring working man, working for peanuts, among them. Just parties, flirting, and amusing adventures.) An interesting glimpse of the past, our grandparents - even great-grandparents, carrying on! The Naughty Flirts! 😅
Just caught this movie on TCM. I know Alice White from her supporting roles in several Warner Brothers pre-code movies, like "Picture Snatcher" with Cagney. She was always the wisecracking, street wise girl with loose morals, with whom the leading man might dally before marrying the "good girl." Interesting to see her have the starring role in "Naughty Flirt," but as a spoiled rich girl she was badly miscast. Her voice and mannerisms all scream working class. Everyone else(including Myrna Loy) had these polished, east coast prep school accents, and Alice seems to have wandered in from another movie.
There were tons of young actresses back then who specialized in playing spoiled rich girls. Alice wasn't one of them. She was much better at playing the poor working girl trying to get her piece of the pie, like in "Show Girl in Hollywood," also just shown on TCM.
Myrna was always an elegant beauty especially in this film.
