Missed ending due to cable co. - please help!

Could someone please tell me how this ends ? My only availble TV cable company went off the air (as they often do) just when John walked into Fallon's dressing room to prove he wasn't blind. I thank you in advance to anyone who can tell me how this excellent pre-code movie ends. I doubt anyone will show it soon and don't have budget for DVDs. Thank you very much. Sincerely , Terry

By the way, this scene was lifted almost word-for-word into the inferno scene of "Elmer Gantry", which was shown just before this last night on AMC. Did anybody else notice this?

Dear King of Fuh, Thank you so very much for taking the time and trouble to answer my plea! Your description was very well written. Thanks again for your kindness. I also found it interesting what both you and Scrabbler had to say about Lewis' "Elmer Gantry" and the playwright of "Bless You,Sister". I saw the Gantry film so many years ago I just remember the fire part of the ending & some change in the main characters- I think the "sister" became disabused about Gantry or religion or both. I will have to catch it again next time someone shows it. BTW, like your hair-raised litttle blue guy. Best wishes, Terry Marie

John doesn't die!!!

After everybody else inside the tabernacle has fled the fire, he stumbles across her body, passed out on the stage. It's John whom carries her to safety.

John and Faith are stretchered into an ambulance and then there's a dissolve to a flash-forward scene.

In the flash-forward scene, Faith is shown as a member of the Salvation Army. Hornsby happens upon her whilst walking down the sidewalk with his apparent new protogee, a boxer. Hornsby makes some comment under his breath about her turning into a "sap". Faith is shown reading a telegram from John which reveals he's at a hospital in NYC, attempting to cure his blindness. In his telegram, John basically says "Who cares?" if his blindness isn't cured... Faith smiles and continues to sing 'Onward Christian Soldiers' as the credits start to roll.

Very descriptive, except that John doesn't die. He comes to and is able to rescue her just in time. They both end up in the ambulance being taken away.
During the scene with The Salvation Army, she reads a note which is clearly from John, where he tells her he's being released from the hospital and will soon be with her - and that is what's causing her to beam.

It had to be 'Comcast'.
