Grammar Nazi scene

Did anyone else notice the scene where the cop reads the report about the raids and searches and finds a misspelled word? It was so unexpected to see that in a 1931 film from today's perspective. The movie is in public domain now and can be found on Youtube.

The scene starts at 46:24

The whole movie was a pleasure to watch!

I don't get why you find this "unexpected"? Were Germans of the '30s known for not caring about orthography? Please explain.

Hahaha, that's a great observation. I did chuckle at the scene as well.
Is this the first example of a grammar nazi in a film?
Very good way to put it.
