Of course Peter Lorre's eyes are quite haunting when they are wide open with terror, especially during the manhunt. But to me, there was another eery thing about them: He hardly ever seems to blink. Did anybody else notice this?

IMO Peter Lorre looked creepy all the time in all of his movies anyway. It's hard to explain but if I was looking for the neighborhood child molester I talk to him first. He just looks and acts creepy all the time.
Maybe he was creepy in real life.
