Heavy Smoking

I had to chuckle at the many scenes, often one after the other, of different smoked-filled rooms with practically every man present puffing away at a cigarette, cigar or pipe. I’m guessing that’s a slice of realism for 1930s Germany rather than an aesthetic choice by the director. As a non-smoker myself, I’m not sorry to have missed that era.

Also realistic in 1960-1970's tv/movies as well. Any Columbo episode proves this.

I’m glad I came after those eras. I guess it’s still that way in many parts of Asia.
