The scene in the mine when the French miner thinks the German rescuers are the enemy (flashback to WWI) due to the gas mask being on is extremely well done. The whole movie is wonderful as an historical document, as are many old films.

Really good movie. I DVR'd it from TCM and was pleasantly surprised.
