This was released on DVD by Warner Home Video in March 2008, bundled in a TCM Archives Collection. Here is the Amazon link:

I rented (from Netflix) The Divorcee and A Free Soul, which come together on one DVD. I do not recall any particular problem with the sound, and do not know if those who found the sound bad are referring to this release.
