Fritz vs. Igor

In what movie does Fritz, the name, become Igor? I've known of Igor for half a century at least. My guess is "The Bride of Frankenstein."

Dwight Frye played a "Fritz" type character called KARL GLUTZ, in BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN.

The character of YGOR was created by Bela Lugosi, in the 1939 film SON OF FRANKENSTEIN.

I think that the character of I-GOR probably made his appearance due to local TV hosts making "comedy" in order to fill in "dead time" before and after the film.

I-GOR reached his comic heights with the Mel Brooks spoof YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN.
While I'm not really a fan of Comedy Spoofs in general, I'll give YF "Full Marks" for the love with which it was it was made.

I hope this helps.

I do hope he won't upset Henry...

Son of Frankenstein, as previously mentioned. And with a Y no less.

Can't stop the signal.

They're two separate characters that have long since become conflated. Fritz fits the "Igor" archetype more closely, being the hunchbacked assistant of Dr. Frankenstein. Ygor was a guy who befriended the Monster and sent him out to murder people. He had a broken neck that healed up crookedly giving him a distorted posture, but he wasn't a hunchback.

"Ygor" is, for some reason, creepier than "Igor".
