So why is the Monster so damn tall?

If the monster is made up of Dead bodies, then why is he so tall? Did Dr Frankenstein just happen to stumble on a basketball team that was all buried in the same place?

reply

From what I can recall from reading the book years ago, I believe the reason why the Monster was so tall was because Frankenstein needed him to be big so that he could adequately fit all the organs and such inside of him. Plus, Frankenstein was trying to create the ideal human so tall, athletic, etc. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure those were the reasons for the Monster's size.

Can't be too careful with all those weirdos running around.

The monster was 8ft. tall in the book with no reason given. I just suppose that Frankenstein wanted to create an imposing figure.

It's metaphorical -- the monster is "bigger than life" and Dr. Frankenstein is "G-d".

"Say anything about me, dahling, as long as it isn't boring."

reply

Did you mean "God"? As in God, God, God, God, GOD!!!

I've just come back on here after seeing the 1952 'Frankenstein' episode of 'Tales of Tomorrow.' Victor Frankenstein does outline his ideas of the perfect artificial human being in that. They includes great height and having the strength of a gorilla. Lon Chaney Jr appears as the monster looking like a really ugly version of Buster Bloodvessel of the 'One Step Beyond' ska group. And strangely enough Victor Frankenstein is played by John Newland who became the presenter of the 'One Step Beyond' TV mystery series.
