Better actresses in this one

Lupita Tovar and Carmen Guerrero were beautiful and way more attractive than the actresses in the American version.

I think that Helen Chandler was physically more attractive than Lupita Tovar, but there's no denying that Lupita gave a much better performance.

The actresses in the Spanish version have more revealing and sexier clothes. If you look closely, in one of the scenes when Eva (Lupita Tovar) is with Juan after she wakes up from bed she's wearing a see-through negligee or something similar and you can actually see her nipples. That would have never happened in the American version.

Chandler looked the same throughout the film. Lupita Tovar went from your average pretty girl to radiant as the film went on. I have heard she wore more revealing clothing than her co-star so when I first watched it, I was confused because she was covered up and looked plainer than Lucia. But as the film went on and when she fell under Dracula's spell, she was hot.

Chandler's acting didn't help. I heard she was good in her other movies but she did not take this production seriously. Sadly for her this becomes the role she is somewhat famous for.

Anyway, Tovar wins. I wondered if the wardrobe had anything to do with producer Paul Kohner because he was in love with her at the time, eventually became her husband. Though Tovar herself said it was not a big deal for Spanish speaking people. They were less uptight.
