I think this is better than the English version

. . . at providing a cure for insomnia and presenting the best Eugene Levy look-alike as Van Helsing.

It is better done than the English version but fails to be a better film after all.

LMAO!! I've just seen this version and came here to write about the Eugene Levy-lookalike but I was beaten to it. I got more of a kick out of this version than the Lugosi version. At least the women here are more revealing and Dracula looks more bloodthirsty as opposed to a bored aristocrat. IMO Dwight Frye was a better Renfield and the ending made more sense in this one. Worth a viewing.

I liked lugosi better because it gave you the sense of as whay van helsing said, "the power of the vampire is that he is so unbelievable". No offense to Carlos, i liked his performance, but Lugosi is Dracula. I personally liked the english better, but the spanish version was VERY well done. Worth viewing.

I don't remember the Levy look-alike -- all I remember is that Spanish Dracula looked like Andy Kaufman.

LOL! Spot on! My native language is Spanish and the acting of the entire cast must be seen (and heard) to be believed!

Non vos riades, que o conto é triste.

In the Spanish version, when Dracula reacts to seeing Renfield's crucifix, Villarias makes a "Eww, who farted?" face.

The cast in the American movie is better but the characters and story are written better in this version. Both films are good, just in different ways. The only complaint I have about this version is that it could've used a musical score though I know those weren't common back then. It seemed like it desperately needed one, though.
