My Review of DRACULA (English & Spanish Versions)

I think both versions were fantastic. The Spanish Version just had a more organised crew, director George Melford was more there for the cast, supposedly Browning was very hands off and many would say cinematographer Karl Freund as the true director. Karl didn't need to move his camera as much, the way Lugosi moved spoke for itself. Spanish Dracula was just more experimental.

I thought the cast of the Spanish version was great, especially if you compare Lupita Tovar to Helen Chandler. Chandler's weak ass performance really dragged the scenes she was in down, especially that scene where she takes orders from Dracula as the bat. "Yes? Alright!" Lupita was more convincing and dare I say, sexier as Mina (or Eva)
