Go ahead. Try. It simply can't be done.

Well, surprise, surprise, JackRabbit88, you've already got two "takers!"

This is the kinda crap one opens himself up to when uttering such challanges.

But don't get me wrong, Jack--"City Lights" is on my own list of all-time, cinematic greats!

What? People have different opinions than me?! Inconceivable!

I'm not surprised people "took me on." Sorry if this "crap" offended you but it was my way of saying it's the most beautiful film ever. Loosen up.

I'm afraid you misunderstood me. The rebuke was actually directed toward the other posters' goofy replies, not you. I wrote my last post in commisseration with you. Sorry if you didn't get my round-about way of putting things.

I thought that might've been the case, but with one legitimate reply and one obviously sarcastic, I was thrown off. My apologies.

I've seen pretty much everything and imo there isn't one.

Ozu is the master of the sort of this sort of comedy to lower your guard and then a sucker emotional punch.

Late Spring, Tokyo Story, An Autumn Afternoon come close but City Lights is unbeatable.

The Elephant Man. It's my favorite film. And City Lights is a close second.
