Did you not care about Chaplin's characters? It would help in order to appreciated what he experiences, what he attempts, when life buffets him. Maybe when you are older you should revisit them...just guessing.

not enough explosions, naked women or car chases for you?

and nobody talks! how can it be a motion picture without talking!

You saw THREE Chaplin movies and didn't like "neither" of them? Not trying to be a grammar Nazi, here, but I find that a little ironic. You are showing both your ignorance of proper writing skills and life experience. No wonder you like "neither" of the three movies!

Stick with him. It took me a long time to click, of the old school I only liked WC Fields and the Marx Bros for many years. It was the boxing match in this film that finally demonstrated his brilliance to me, something just fell into place.

CITY LIGHTS: 3/10
MODERN TIMES: 8/10
THE GOLD RUSH: 9/10

I've seen four. The three you've seen plus The Great Dictator and I've liked all of them though City Lights is easily my favorite.

When I was in my teens, I saw a few. Not memorable, just that " silent comedian." Holy mackerel! I have a bunch on Criterion blu-ray now, and with many years of studying film I truly appreciate these today. Remarkably brilliant stuff.

His movies are awesome. Have more to say, but not sure if this is really archiving IMDb's boards.
